The Out-of-State Challenge

This is what I lovingly call my Out-of-State Challenge.  My Uncle Matt was finally getting married after over forty years of being a bachelor and I couldn't resist offering N&B Weddingworks services!  To understand the style of the wedding, you have to know a little bit about the couple.  Matt and Stephanie have been together for just over a year and they definitely have their own style.  They love the outdoors.  They hunt, fish, and one of their favorite past times is searching for deer and elk antler sheds.  Their house is filled with antlers and taxidermy.  The wedding took place on April 14.  It was a beautiful day, minus the threat of rain.  Matt and Stephanie were married in a small chapel in a classic western ghost town.  Thirty minutes before the ceremony, a man in full western gear sauntered into the chapel and said,
"Anyone want to see a gunfight?"

The ceremony was beautiful.  They walked down the isle to Train's song "Marry Me" and everyone was in tears.  The reception took place in their backyard in a backyard-BBQ style, and somehow, even with a 30% chance of rain, the moment we arrived at the reception site, the sun came out and the day became perfect.  Cool and overcast, which in Arizona is a blessing.

So, when I consulted with the bride about what kind of look she was going for with the wedding, all I got was that she likes roses and I was sent two swatches of ribbon (one lavender, one dark purple) for colors.  It is difficult to consult with the bride when the bride is in another state, but I accepted the challenge.  I constructed one bride's bouquet made with ivory roses, green spider mums, purple hydrangea, Spanish lavender, mint, and long twisted sticks with pearls.  The stem was wrapped with dark purple satin ribbon accented with pearls straight up the stem.
Price: $155

I made one bridesmaid bouquet that consisted of green mums, Spanish lavender, mint, and one large ivory peony.  The stems were wrapped with lavender ribbon, the stems partially exposed.  Price: $80

With the boutonniere I did something a little special for the groom.  He didn't want anything too "girly" and he wanted something that represented him.  To do this, I picked a dark purple flower that had no fluff to it.   I backed it up with a couple of dark rose leaves, a stem of green berries, and (this is the extra special step) two curled stems with pearls which we called the "antlers".  He loved it!     Price: $13

We also created a toss bouquet using the same flowers as the bridesmaid bouquet.  We created a garter set for them (one toss and one keep) using dark purple ribbon, white bows, and two layers of white lace.  We were very happy about how everything turned out and the bride and groom looked like they had the best day!  We were so blessed to attend!

Tip: N&B Weddingworks uses magnets on our boutonnieres for a better hold for the groom who wants to dance on his wedding day.  It also prevents the problem of putting holes in your suit or shirt.  For only $2 extra, we will add magnets to your boutonnieres!

Kyle and Ciprianna's Wedding: Hair, Make-up, and Accessories

Ciprianna has very beautiful skin.  We didn't need to do much for her to have a glow, because she had a natural glow.  We did a very natural fresh look on her.  She wanted her wedding colors incorporated into her eye shadow, so we used a very soft peach on her lid, and used a light pink blush just to bring out the warmth in her cheeks. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

We wanted to go for a fresh spring feeling with her hair.  We weaved in the little white flowered bobby pins throughout the braids that met off center in the back to the large orange cabbage rose.  The hair accessories were the same flowers that were used in the bouquet.  We also created a hair clip for her one year old daughter to match the flowers.
*Tip-waterproof mascara is definitely worth the investment for your big day!  Don't want to cry off all that mascara!  You can use an oil-based makeup remover to clean off the mascara afterwards, no hassle!

The One Week Challenge

I worked on all the flowers for Kyle and Ciprianna’s wedding over the course of a week.  The bride’s bouquet consisted of orange (her favorite color) and pink cabbage roses, dark purple and ivory rose buds, and small white flowers with yellow bulbs accented with dark green leaves wrapped with orange ribbon.  The effect was very fresh and bright, giving the wedding an elegant spring look.

The boutonnieres were very simply made with orange and white rose buds, small white flowers and dark green leaves.

The corsages were an elegant purple rose bud, small white flowers with yellow bulbs, and white ribbon.  We created a small toss bouquet of three cabbage roses in orange, pink, and purple.

I think everything turned out beautifully!  We were happy we made this bride so happy!

How N&B Came to Be

Hello beautiful brides and brides to be!  My name is Beth.  I want to tell you a little about how N&B Weddingworks came into the world.  I was married to my wonderful husband in 2009 and as many of you know,  there is a lot that goes into wedding planning.  Well, I did all of mine in three months time.  I realized, I was a pro!  Well, as luck would have it, one of my sisters got married just before me and she used fresh flowers at her wedding.  As many of you past brides know, fresh flowers never last very long outside of water.  During a three hour wedding, her flowers were brown and wilting by mid-reception.  So for my own wedding, I decided to use silk flowers, but not that many florists in Utah arrange silk flowers, so I did them myself.  Through some trial and error I came up with arrangements that were beautiful.  Everyone at my wedding had no idea that they were silk.  I ended up doing more arrangements for other people.  My best friend, my uncle's wedding, my husband's cousin.  I realized that we really had something here.  I joined forces with my sister-in-law, Nat, who is a very talented beautician and artist. Together we are N&B Weddingworks.  We work to create original works for every bride we meet. We create everything from brides bouquets and boutonnieres to veils and garters.  We provide services for up-dos and make-up, even delivery for your flowers and accessories.  We're a small company trying to help brides everywhere feel less stressed and secure in the quality of product they receive from us.  We hope to one day expand to becoming a one-stop shopping experience for any bride in need of a little wedding planning help.

As a side note to anyone with a special day, whether it be a school dance, a QuinceaƱera, or even just a simple senior photo shoot, you can use our services too!  We make corsages and boutonnieres for dances and hair accessories for every occasion!

So, here on this blog we will show you our recent projects and things we are currently working on. We would love to hear what you think and what kinds of things would help you as a bride.  We would love to help you create a day of stress-free happy memories!
